In 1989, Mark spent time touring the Midwest with the Bel Airs—enjoying himself so much he passed up an opportunity to rejoin Nighthawks Jan Zukowski and Pete Ragusa to back up John Lee Hooker.

In 1989, two anthologies containing some of The Nighhawk's best recordings were released under the titles “Best of the Blues” and “Best of the Rock.” The two album releases were also subsequently combined to form the “Best of The Nighthawks.”
